Joanna Davis

Vice President of Operations

Joanna Davis is Vice President of Elite Surgical Affiliates – the parent company of the Elite Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery. In this role, Joanna is responsible for the day-to-day management of the company's surgery centers, as well as additional facilities that are currently under development in the Southeast, Texas Regions.

That means she not only oversees the centers in the initial development phase – including design, construction, syndication, accreditation and equipment-procurement – but she also remains intimately involved with the centers in the latter stages of development in terms of continuing to build physician relationships, and recruiting, managing and retaining center staff.

Joanna says she found the opportunity to join a small start-up extremely appealing. "Unlike my previous experience, Elite gives me a chance to have close working relationships with our physicians and staff – and I like the fact that our patients are served in a more intimate and personal setting."

Of all the things Joanna has done to get Elite's facilities off the ground, she says she's most proud of what she's accomplished in surrounding herself with nothing but the best-of-the-best. "I've recruited some of the top physicians in the Houston market to work at our centers – along with winning employee teams – all of which translates into being able to provide the most excellent patient care possible."

Joanna says that by virtue of joining a "start-up" company, she's learned a lot about herself and the strengths of the Elite team. "No matter what's been thrown our way given the current economic climate – we know how to adapt, and we know how to think outside the box," she says. As evidence, Joanna points to Elite's success with turnarounds – and how the company can take a faltering facility and get it back on track financially in just four-to-six weeks – which she says "is unheard of" in the industry, and they've done it with several facilities to date.

Prior to joining Elite in 2009, Joanna worked for nearly 13 years in virtually every aspect of healthcare. She graduated with a degree in nursing from the University of Texas and spent the initial years of her career focusing on pediatrics, long-term care and surgery. In recent years, Joanna worked in management and development roles for large corporate entities such as National Surgical Hospitals and United Surgical Partners International (USPI), among others.

When asked what's next for her when it comes to Elite, Joanna says she plans to continue to "grow with the company, build new relationships with highly regarded physicians, and constantly be open to learning new things."
